Eng. (Dr.) Manuja Gunawardena

Profile

Dr. Manuja Gunawardana obtained his B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering with First Class Honors in April 2016 from the University of Moratuwa. Upon graduation, he worked as a temporary academic staff member at the same university before joining the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Manitoba, Canada to pursue fully funded masters and doctoral degrees. During his M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies, he also worked as a research assistant and a teaching assistant for five years. 

He has also been the recipient of several merit scholarships and awards during his higher studies, which include the Manitoba Graduate Scholarship, Gordon P. Osler Graduate Scholarship and Young Scientist Award 2018 and 2021. He is currently affiliated with the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Moratuwa as a Senior Lecturer. His areas of research include high voltage engineering, applied electromagnetics and microgrids. He also collaborates with the industry as a consultant on microgrids and renewable integration, safety of high voltage facilities and lightning protection.
